While Fortnite has added original anime character skins to the game, players are much more excited when an iconic anime series makes its way to the game. From having skins based on characters from anime and manga to going so far as to add gameplay mechanics inspired by these stories, Fortnite’s crossovers with the media have been amazing.

Naruto

The first anime that made its way into Fortnite was Naruto. It tells the story of the titular character as he goes on a journey to become a great ninja, along with his classmates. The original manga series started getting published in 1999, with an anime adaptation coming out in 2002. Since then, Naruto has had quite a few spin-offs, video games of its own, and even a sequel series, Boruto: Naruto Next Generations.

There have been eight characters that Fortnite players have been able to obtain skins for. The first skins that were available included Naruto, along with his closest comrades, Sasuke and Sakura, and mentor, Kakashi. A few months later, other beloved characters, Itachi, Orochimaru, Hinata, and Gaara, were added to the game as well.

Dragon Ball

Dragon Ball is arguably the most influential anime of all time, so it makes sense that Fortnite brought elements from it into the game as well. There are several anime in the Dragon Ball franchise, with Dragon Ball Super being the most recent in the main series. Dragon Ball Super began in 2015 and continues Goku’s arc as he learns about the universes beyond his own.

There have been four skins based on Dragon Ball Super characters added into Fortnite. Goku was an obvious first choice, with his rival, Vegeta, childhood friend, Bulma, and one of his newest comrades, Beerus, being the others. Elements of Dragon Ball’s universe, such as the powerful attack, Kamehameha, and flying cloud that Goku uses to travel, Nimbus, were also added into the game, giving players more methods to defeat enemies and claim victories.

My Hero Academia

The most recent collaboration that Fortnite has had is with My Hero Academia, which tells the story of a child named Deku who aspires to be a superhero, despite not having powers like the majority of those around him do. The manga series was first published in 2014, with its anime adaptation beginning in 2016.

My Hero Academia characters that got skins in Fortnite include Deku, his idol, All Might, his rival, Katsuki Bakugo, and his ally, Ochaco Uraraka. Along with these skins, players have been able to go to an island in the game based on My Hero Academia, the Hero Training Gym. All Might Supply Drops were also added to the battle royale mode of the game.

While there haven’t been a lot of anime crossovers yet, fans have enjoyed seeing characters and elements from My Hero Academia, Dragon Ball, and Naruto added into Fortnite, and hope to see more anime brought in soon. As all three anime that Fortnite has collaborated with have dozens of other characters that would make great skins, hopefully, more crossovers between them will come in the future, along with other popular anime that a lot of gamers have expressed wanting to come into the game, such as Attack on Titan and Demon Slayer.
